She is full grown and she is a big girl!

It takes a community to care for our horses. Being a non-profit, we are reliant on the generosity of  neighbors, friends, and donors to maintain our herd. Please considering supporting WSS by giving to this very special and beautiful work.

Folks have asked, “How is Freya?” And the answer is, she’s doing great. She turned 4 in March and continues to entrance all those who find her in the pasture. She has been ridden, but she is not ready to enter our string. Mentally and socially, she is still a very young horse, and I don’t want her to make a mistake, or for pressure to be put on her that she would not understand. She needs time to level out. And this being the first horse to train from the ground-up, I want to live to tell the tale. Although, I’ve not had any frightening or dangerous situations with her. She only freaked me out once. When she began to come into heat, she turned into the Over-She-Lord. The fits of galloping were intense. She still loves to gallop.

Additionally, over the last 2 years the Lord has been doing a work of healing in my back and hip, so I’ve taken some time. The healing began at a Holy Spirit conference in March of 2024. Following, the Spirit worked to heal and restore my back through all sorts of small practices and prayer. Today I can say that my back/hip are totally restored without any surgery or invasive intervention. If you have any questions about that journey, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. My heart is full of gratitude.

In the meantime, I continue to teach and work with her. She is wonderful, soft, curious, funny, fiery, and gentle. All of it. And I don’t suspect that we will be pulling her into our string until she is 7-8 years old. If you visit WSS, you may see her as you drive in. She keeps Jack, our retired trail horse of 32 years, company. You will see her on the right side of the road in the pasture just down the hill. At times you will see a collection of neighbors, visiting with her by the road. She keeps everyone entertained.

Please come to WSS for a visit! With joy, Susanne

Jack, her pasture mate. They make a good pair. He’s an WSS retired horse of 32 years.
